Preliminary Task Contents Page

This is my final contents page for the preliminary task. I have kept the main housestyle of the dark red background and yellow writing to allow the reader to clearly recognize that this magazine is representing the school. Overall, I am happy with how it looks as this is my preliminary task and my first experience of using Adobe Photoshop. It has given insight into the different tools that it supplies allowing me to go on and use these in my main task.

Front Cover School Magazine

This is my final front cover for the preliminary task. I have followed my plan closely but instead of putting three photos down the first third of the magazine I have changed it to two so it does not look so crammed up. I have kept to my house style with the colours and style of the layout. I have included the school logo into the magazine. The reason I chose the colours I have was to keep the same style as St Marks itself as it is a magazine for the school. I have used an Ofsted quote on the front cover to catch the readers eye, mainly the parents as they are the more likely audience to be interested in the Ofsted of their child's school. I have also included a chance for the students to win school stationary for the year, this may grab the children to read more about their school if they know that there is a chance for them to win a competition. the newly appointed head girl and head boy are my main article as it informs not only the parents and pupils but also the local community surrounding the school. It also informs the school pupils of the image of each head boy and head girl if they have not noticed them around school. I have used a mixture of text and images to make it visual as well as some information.

Using Photoshop

This is a screen shot showing my work on Adobe Photoshop. I am able to navigate to different tools by using the tool bar on the left hand side of the screen. On the bottom right hand corner it shows me which layers I have. I am able to move each layer to put the in front of certain pictures or text so they are not hidden behind photos or colour background and are visible to see. By selecting the eye icon in each of the layers indicates to the user that they are the ones they can see on the image. There are a variety of different tools I have used to get my magazine cover to this stage such as; Colour blending, cut, copy, paste, crop tool, text tool and more.

Front Cover Photos

This is the photo I have taken for the main image of the front cover. It is a picture of the newly appointed  Head Boy and Head Girl of the school. It is a medium long shot. To make it look more professional I am going to crop out the filing cabinet with the blue box and the classroom door.

This is an over the shoulder shot that I will also be using on the front cover of the magazine. This will be advertising the new computer suite that the students are now able to use. Similar to the first picture I will also be cropping out the unwanted bits in this photo to make it look professional.

I have taken his photo to also appear on the front cover. It indicates to the audience the one to one tuition the school are running to assist their children on further help with their education an accessing the latest technology.

With all my photos I will be using Insta Editor to edit all of my photos as I am to make my magazine look professional and it will help in removing the objects in the backgrounds that I do not want to see.
